Talking to Spirits

How do you know whether the being you meet in ritual or on the astral is real? In this episode of the Lord Manticore Occult Training Series, Nick Farrell tackles one of the most awkward questions in practical magic: when a spirit, guide, angel, god-form, dead relative, inner teacher, or suspiciously flattering astral entity starts talking, how much of it should you believe? The answer is not as comforting as people want it to be. Much of what magicians pick up in ritual or astral work is distorted, symbolic, contaminated by expectation, or just plain wrong. That does not mean it should all be dismissed. It means it must be tested, questioned, and handled with the same ruthless honesty you would apply to any other magical result, assuming humanity can still manage that without turning it into branding. Nick explains why occult communication often fails, how fantasy and genuine contact become tangled, and how to treat inner messages without either worshipping them or throwing them in the bin. This question, along with many others about magical failure, ritual error, self-deception, and practical occult work, is explored in Nick Farrell’s book Why Magic Fails, available here: https://www.lulu.com/shop/nick-farrel...
