Third World- ‘Jah Glory’-Jazz Cafe; London-26.06.25 Thursday

Having been around since 1976 and with 21 albums to their name, it’s surprising that Third World don’t have the same gravitas as say, Burning Spear or even Steel Pulse. Actually they are positioned in-between the two: They have made Rootsy Deep thick Reggae Roots music like Spear but also catchy chorus friendly Pop Reggae like Steel Pulse but still don’t get the credit of being one of the Reggae pioneers. Either way, except for a few early albums, their sound is not dense and their message is accessible for the masses which is why it’s a mystery they aren’t regarded as such. Here’s a tune with both fissures and one to chill with in the summer light. A very rare visit after two decades and we have captured them for your entertainment. Enjoy the harmony of sound that is Third World.
