An affordable way to level a plot without equipment or skills: a shovel and a level are all you need... A walk-behind tractor levels a hilly area, but on a slope, when you need to move layers of soil from one side to the other, it's completely useless. A grader on a small plot is like a bull in a china shop—it does more harm than good. Therefore, a good old shovel is ideal if you're digging using the "baked" method... This way, you're not just removing the sod layer—you're removing just enough to maintain the horizontal plane of the plot and not moving soil from one place to another...
