It is also about insects... The title is a quotation from a text by W.G. Sebald. In his literature, Sebald often referred to real historical sources in a detailed - and sometimes linguistically highly paraphrased - manner, but sometimes mixed them with entirely freely invented allegedly historical material. The piece strictly separates the instrumental and electronic layers almost throughout. A "communication" in terms of content between these two levels thus almost always takes place by chance, so to speak. Which level could ultimately be the "authentic" one or is presented as such in the composition is left to the perception and decision of the listener. Both ways of perception are possible and highly desirable. The piece is the first part of a planned four-part cycle, whose respective electronic and acoustic levels can be freely combined and exchanged. 2023. 7. 30. Therefore, the longing for nostalgia actually represents a yearning for the present, for existence itself.
