Explotaban y semiesclavizaban a trabajadores de Rumanía y Moldavia

Jaén, Oct 3 (EFE) (Image: Civil Guard) - The Civil Guard has arrested 16 people and is investigating another five in Jaén, Huelva, Córdoba, Badajoz, and Albacete. They are members of an organization dedicated to recruiting people from Eastern Europe, mainly from Romania and Moldova, and exploiting them as laborers during harvesting campaigns for various agricultural crops. According to statements made today in a press conference in Jaén by the Government's subdelegate, Catalina Madueño; the acting colonel in charge of the Jaén Civil Guard Command, Luis Ortega Carmona; and the lieutenant colonel in charge of the Department of Crimes against Persons and Property at the UCO (University of Cordoba), Javier Rogero Martín, the detainees were involved in recruiting, transporting, and monitoring the victims, including five businessmen who acted in collusion with the organization.
