As we experience adventures with Christ, triumphs, defeats help to establish trust. Everyone sees God through filters. Being that those filters are normally shaped within our various cultural influences. Often how we see ourselves and how we relate to God is  impacted by cultural and sub-cultural values, which is often biased. To create in us a well rounded view, Christ  begins reshaping our minds using life events both the good and the bad. Our first experiences are not terribly bad, it's just not all inclusive. Christ came to present a different perspective and world view. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will - to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. (Ephesians 1: 3-6) In the case of growing up in a church going family where God's principles are stressed heavily, more so than not we view God as untouchable and hard to please. The other side of that is a God of liberty and patience. He has invested his time, care, love and patience to groom us into how he sees us in his predestined purpose. In our preparation, there is often an array of hurt, celebrations, tears, happiness and disappointments.
