SCM Minimax sc3 w panel saw review

This is a quick review of a 2011 Minimax panel saw. The saw's not mine, but I was really surprised when I discovered the tilting system. Did another quick video to show what happens when you tilt it to 45 degrees. I may of left some information out in this video. Just ask if you're interested. Frankly, it's not a bad saw for a small shop, and the price is fair, in my opinion, but it has its, ehem, short-comings. I like the small foot print, and with a few small modifications, it could serve a small custom shop well. I wouldn't pay much more than mentioned, nor would I buy one for a production shop. It would be destroyed in no time. (please excuse my lack of camera/demo experience. It was my first, and done quickly after a days work..;-/ ) specs. 5 hp. 220 v. motor. 5/8 inch arbor. Rip fence - up to 50-51 inches. Cross cut fence - up to 82 inches. ;-/ Two stops incl. 35 1/2 inches high. I also forgot to mention, it comes with a small steel out-feed table...bouf Obviously SCM has tried to design an affordable panel saw for the smaller shop. I think they've cut some corners but still managed to design a fairly functional solid saw that does what most saws need to do. Sheet goods and Solids. I think they could improve on it by off-setting the blade/arbor from the sliding bed, so that one can add dado blades. Even with that pivot system, That would make it Very competitive! Anyway, enough of that. cheers
