The BART Legacy Fleet - No Longer in Regular Service.

In September 11, 1972, when the BART system officially opened, the original A & B cars took its first riders. On the 27th of September, 1972, Richard Nixon took his first ride around the BART System. As BART expanded its network to San Francisco & the Peninsula, the North Bay, and the South Bay, the system became a major lifeline for people all around the bay. Despite all the troubles BART has gone through over the years, it still serves a major form of transit today. After over 50 years of the Legacy Fleet serving all the riders, they are now being retired and replaced with the newer D & E (a.k.a Fleet Of The Future) cars. The C1 and C2 'chopper' cars were retired recently. Starting today, with the new system schedule taking effect, the Legacy Fleet will no longer be in regular service. However, riders may still see them from time to time if the system needs to accomodate extra capacity. The official farewell run for the Legacy Fleet is scheduled to take place in 2024. In this video, I compiled many clips of the Legacy Fleet I have gotten over the years (from 2021 until now). Honestly, its going to feel strange seeing BART without the Legacy Fleet. Having been living in the Bay Area for over 19 years, the Legacy Fleet is a huge part of my childhood from the days when my grandparents would take me out to Oakland via public transit. I feel that the Legacy Fleet is what defines BART and gives the whole network its sentimental value. I am really hoping that I can get more videos, of the Legacy Fleet before its official retirement, and I really hope this does not turn out to be my last video of the them.
