A day of contrasts in the French Alps: from conquering the hairpin bends of Izoard and Vars to the unexpected challenge of hail on Europe's highest road, the Col de la Bonette. Our mission on the Route des Grandes Alpes (D902) continues with its third, unforgettable stage. Departing Briançon after a night in a "memorable" hotel (but not in a good way!), we set out to conquer three of the most iconic passes in the Alps. In this video, we take you with us to the almost Martian landscapes of the Col de l'Izoard (D902) and the spectacular curves of the Col de Vars (D902), where Pandi puts her "method" to the test on the hairpin bends. But the highlight of the day comes on the Cime de la Bonette (M2205). Just enough time to snap a souvenir photo on Europe's highest road at 2,802 meters, and the sky changed: a hailstorm surprised us, turning the descent into a true test of endurance and forcing us to skip lunch to escape the dark clouds.
