Behind the seafront - fun ride!

Another sunny evening in Southend-on-Sea! Sit back, relax and enjoy another off-beat open-top ride as First Ensignbus Volvo B9TK / Wright Gemini 364 (MX58 DXS) takes us from Southend Pier along City Beach to the famous Kursaal. Then the fun begins! Not going ahead to East Beach, but we dive inland, where open-toppers don't go, past Seaway and then climb the steep and notorious York Road to emerge by the Bus Station 'Travel Centre', crossing Southend High Street and then following Stephensons' 17 route next to c2c's railway tracks. We turn down to the cliff top by the Cliffs Pavilion and along to Chalkwell Avenue, making a very tight righthand turn into Chalkwell Avenue. We then follow the lovely 99 route, unusually passing by Leigh Station, climbing up Belton Way towards Sutherland Boulevard. With grateful thanks to First Ensignbus and driver Paul.
