Outline: Cement industry contributes about 8% of global CO2 emissions. Replacement of lime-based hydraulic binders (ordinary cement) with SiO2, Al2O3, and CaO- rich alkali-activated materials. Different classes of alkali-activated materials (AAMs), typical precursors required for AAMs, and locally available precursors in Saudi Arabia.
