Grassland Matters at Longmoor Farm

Why Grasslands Matter to the UK's Future Grasslands, both temporary and permanent, cover more than 70% of the UK's farmland. They are one of our most important natural assets. As well as producing healthy, nutrient-rich food, they play a vital role in tackling climate change, storing carbon, supporting biodiversity, and protecting our natural environment. The Land Use for Net Zero (LUNZ) programme is a major UK-wide initiative investing more than £20 million to help transform the way we use land, restore nature, and address climate change. Backed by the UK and devolved governments and led by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), LUNZ brings together researchers, farmers, businesses, policymakers, and communities to develop practical solutions that benefit both people and the planet. This film is one in a series recorded on farms taking part in the LUNZ Grasslands Project. Through these visits, we explore how farmers are working towards net zero by sharing practical approaches, innovation, and real-world experience. The series supports knowledge exchange by sharing learning with other farmers, policymakers, and wider audiences interested in the future of sustainable land use. We are grateful to all the farmers who generously gave their time and shared their knowledge and experience.
