Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM disassembly for replacing the aperture flex cable

This video is about disassembling the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. The aperture of the lens did not work, and it was caused by a faulty flex cable. So I had to disassemble the lens, replace the flex cable with a new one, then assemble the lens. In this video I'll show you how to disassemble the lens to get access to the aperture flex cable. UPDATE: Disassembling the inner lens tube can be done much easier (the IS unit can be left in the lens): 1) After removing the three screws and the metal ring from the front of the tube (finished at 11:17), remove the three screws from only the second row (I remove the first screw from that row between 11:16 and 11:27, then continue with the other two). 2) Then continue with removing the two screws from the holders of the flat cables, and then remove the three screws from the lens element on the rear of the lens tube (starting at 12:23, ending at 13:20). 3) Remove the flat cable holder of the aperture flat cable, or cut it off. In this video I did not remove it, but that is the cable holder which I removed the screw from between 12:23 and 12:29. 4) Remove the plastic sleeves of the removed screws from the side of the lens (shown between 13:56 and 14:17). 5) Use a tweezers to push out the lens element which holds the aperture unit. That way it is not necessary to mark the screws of the IS unit, and not necessary to remove it. When assembling the lens, put back the metal holder of the aperture flat cable after the lens element is back in the inner lens unit.
