Sonic Youth - Theresa's Sound-world (Drum Cover & Vinyl)

Track 3, "Theresa's Sound-world" is not the most popular track from Sonic Youth's 1992 masterpiece DIRTY, but it is my favourite! The tune exemplifies the band's use of dynamics and features a wide range of techniques by drummer Steve Shelley. Shelley's use of soft mallets on cymbals and toms allows for a unique transition into the more heavier sections with sticks. Even when in these heavy sections, Shelley doesn't stay with one volume, but rather crescendos in waves throughout. It is such sensitive and expressive playing and was a joy for me to learn!
