See what was happening in Europe in the first decades of the 20th century. Understand Futurism, Cubism, and Dadaism. Futurism was a movement that emerged in Italy thanks to the writer Filippo Tomasso Marinetti, with his Futurist Manifesto. The text was published in the newspaper Le Figaro in 1909. It was an attempt to break with the oppressive culture that dominated Italy's cultural landscape. Marinetti's proposal was to summon "all those who considered themselves young, beautiful, and revolutionary, and capable of inventing a new concept of life."
