Liban : Hezbollah, un État dans l’État | Une leçon de géopolitique | ARTE

A new series of clashes between the Hezbollah militia and the Israeli army took place on both sides of the Lebanese border on September 7 and 8, with both sides still claiming they are carrying out these attacks in response to those of the enemy. Why do we regularly talk about Hezbollah and its war against Israel, and not about the regular Lebanese army? What is the real weight of this political actor, which has become central in Lebanon? What is the relationship between this Shiite militia and Iran, and how can it be differentiated from the Houthis in Yemen, or Hamas in the Palestinian territories? To discuss this "state within a state," Emilie Aubry spoke with Christophe Ayad, a senior reporter for Le Monde and winner of the Albert Londres Prize in 2004, who has covered the Middle East for two decades and published a book entitled "Geopolitics of Hezbollah in 2024" with PUF.
