Cleaning EPSON printhead doesnt have to be hard or expensive. Yes, you can buy a cleaning kit on eBay or Amazon for $15-$25, but they do not always work. You can try cleaning with things you have at home. In any case, the kits also work and are a good tool to try before you give p on your printer.
