NYCT Staten Island Railway: R211S Train #100-#104 on the SIR Local/Express (Second Day of Service)

Taken 10/9/24 at Clifton, Jefferson Avenue, Eltingville, and Prince's Bay, with a brief ride along between Grasmere and Dongan Hills. Here’s the first set of Kawasaki R211S cars running in passenger service on the SIR Local and SIR Express between St. George and Tottenville/Great Kills. This train's inaugural run was on October 8th, 2024, which marks the first time in over 50+ years that the Staten Island Railway is using new train cars. This pilot set of R211Ss (numbered #100-104) is undergoing its second day of in-service revenue testing, which is done to ensure that the train can perform well for 30 consecutive days while in passenger service. Once the train completes this round of testing, the rest of the 75-car order will start entering service to replace the older R44s currently in service on the Staten Island Railway.
