Thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran as Iran began week-long funeral ceremonies for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The state funeral opened with the Iranian national anthem, Quran recitations and religious tributes at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla. Khamenei's coffin, draped in the Iranian flag, was placed alongside members of his family killed during the conflict. The funeral procession will continue across Iran and Iraq before his burial in Mashhad.
