Predator: Badlands will be hitting theaters soon. We're taking a look back at the sequels of the past—those that dared to be different. This time, I'm taking a look at Predator 2—a film that was panned by most audiences and critics, but which, in my opinion, was simply underrated. Instead of commandos in the jungle, we get a police action movie set in the urban jungle of Los Angeles. Instead of Arnold, we get Danny Glover as a tough cop who must face an alien hunter. The film expanded the Predator mythology, introduced thriller elements, a secret research unit, and showed for the first time that even a hunter can have problems in the chaos of the city. Why was Predator 2 so underrated? Why is it worth revisiting today—after hundreds of reboots and remakes? I discuss all of this in this episode.
