Katsuhiro Otomo Receives Winsor McCay at the 2014 Annie Awards

At the 41st Annie Awards, Katsuhiro Otomo received the prestigious Winsor McCay Award. Katsuhiro Otomo debuted as a manga writer and artist in 1973. In 1983, he published "Domu," "Akira" and other extraordinary works in the genre. He directed the animated version of "Akira," as well as producing other milestone animated films such as "Roujin Z," Memories" and "Steamboy." In 2005, the French government decorated him with a Chevalier Order of Art and Culture. The Winsor McCay Award is a very special award given to individuals in recognition of lifetime or career contributions to the art of animation in producing, directing, animating, design, writing, voice acting, sound and sound effects, technical work, music, professional teaching, and for other endeavors which exhibit outstanding contributions to excellence in animation.
