Northbridge, Ma 3 alarm apartment building fire

3 alarms were struck for a rapidly spreading fire in an apartment building around 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, leaving over a dozen people without a place to stay before Christmas. Town Highway Dept workers who were working nearby, noticed the smoke and called in the fire. They assisted firefighters evacuating tenants and the nearby exposure. Firefighters used big lines to initially knock the fire down and protect the exposure. As mutual aid arrived, crews deployed more lines and contained the fire to the building of origin and stop the fire spread. The fire was under control in about 40 minutes. No injuries reported.
