The SmartCampus | Jason Naidu, Kaustubh Paliwal, Zoe Chiu, Esther Kim, Samuel Lee, Wallace Chiu, Jason Nguyen, Hogun Kim, and Nicole Wong Friday, May 29, 2026 Atkinson Hall, Qualcomm Institute, UC San Diego Led by Neil Smith, QI associate research scientist and co-director of the Center for Cyber-Archaeology and Sustainability, “Serious Games” teaches students to develop and apply games to complex global problems such as climate change. The SmartCampus: Combining Virtual/Augmented Digital Twins of the UC San Diego Campus with Historical Avatars and UC San Diego Professors. The focus this year has been on creating life-like simulations inside digital twins, integrating new emerging AI domains, and enabling new features for virtual teachers to deliver interactive learning experiences.
