Mahora explores the idea that every human being carries a mask within. Inspired by the traditional Chhau masks of Purulia, the film reflects on identity, dreams, struggles, relationships, and the emotions hidden behind our everyday lives. Through its rural setting and deeply human characters, Mahora attempts to connect local stories with universal feelings. The film is creatively inspired by the adventurous spirit and emotional depth found in Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay's legendary novel “Chander Pahar.” While it is not a direct adaptation, it draws inspiration from themes of courage, self-discovery, hope, and the journey toward one's true self. Just as Shankar stepped into the unknown, the characters in Mahora travel through memories, love, pain, and the mysteries of life. Shot across the beautiful landscapes of Purulia, this short film showcases village life, folk traditions, nature, and the soul of Manbhum.
