Yauco es un municipio localizado en la región suroeste del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico. Yauco está repartida en 20 barrios y Yauco Pueblo, el centro administrativo y principal pueblo del municipio. Este pueblo ya existía como comunidad indígena mucho antes del descubrimiento de Puerto Rico. Yauco era la capital indígena de la isla de Borikén. Juan Ponce de León llegó a la isla para explorarla y colonizarla en el 1508, entrando por la Bahía de Guánica. Este se dirigió al Coayuco, sede del cacique principal de la Isla, llamado Agüeybaná. Yauco is divided into 20 neighborhoods and Yauco Pueblo, the administrative center and main town of the municipality. This town already existed as an indigenous community long before the discovery of Puerto Rico. Yauco was the indigenous capital of the island of Borikén. Juan Ponce de León arrived on the island to explore and colonize it in 1508, entering through the Bay of Guánica. He headed to Coayuco, seat of the main chief of the Island, called Agüeybaná.
