Velho Chico: A Jornada do Rio que Mantém a Caatinga Viva

The São Francisco River, also called Velho Chico, originates in the Serra da Canastra in Minas Gerais and runs for over 2,800 km until it flows into the Atlantic Ocean, passing through Bahia, Pernambuco, Sergipe, and Alagoas. This river sustains the Caatinga, the Cerrado, and even areas of the Atlantic Forest, being fundamental for biodiversity and for millions of people. In this video, we show the fauna, the flora, the challenges that Velho Chico faces, and the importance of this river for the Brazilian hinterland.
