"Le phare" de Takamaka à Saint Philippe et le naufrage du "Formosan" en 1973 !!!

Faced with a series of accidents—including the Formosan and, much later, the Tresta Star in 2022—maritime authorities have strengthened navigational aids along the coast of Saint-Philippe. Rather than a traditional lighthouse (which would be vulnerable to successive lava flows from the Piton de la Fournaise volcano), the area has been equipped with automatic navigation lights and modern beacons. These installations project specific light signals to indicate to mariners the immediate proximity of land and, above all, to counteract magnetic anomalies caused by basaltic rocks, which had once misled the Warren Hastings' compass.
