Opening of the 2026 Palarong Pambansa

Agusan del Sur May 24, 2026 “Sa ating mga kabataang atleta, ito ang hiling ko sa inyo: Mag-enjoy kayo sa paligsahang ito. Ibigay ninyo ang buong puso sa paglalaro. Lumaban nang may dangal at igalang ang kapwa ninyong atleta,” said Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr. at the opening ceremony of the 66th Palarong Pambansa, dubbed ‘2026 Palaro Tu AgSur,’ in Agusan del Sur on May 24, 2026. Delivering President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s message, SAP Lagdameo emphasized the vital role of sports in instilling discipline, resilience, teamwork and excellence among the youth. He also reaffirmed the Administration’s ongoing support for grassroots sports development and school-based athletic programs nationwide. The 2026 Palarong Pambansa brings together approximately 10,868 student-athletes from 18 regions, along with delegates from the National Academy of Sports (NAS) and Philippine Schools Overseas (PSO), for weeklong competitions at 43 venues from May 24 to 31, 2026. This year’s edition also features Para Games events, along with additional demonstration and exhibition sports, to promote greater participation and inclusivity in Philippine grassroots sports.
