Bandla’s Hidden Beauty Has a Garbage Problem | Cleanup Mission Begins

I travelled to Bandla in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, for a community cleanup drive after speaking with the Bandla Panchayat Pradhan and Ward Member. Unfortunately, the planned cleanup could not take place because the Panchayat representatives and local volunteers were unavailable. Instead of returning home, I decided to explore the surrounding tourist and picnic spots. What I found was both beautiful and worrying. The mountains, trekking routes and peaceful viewpoints were stunning—but several places had large amounts of plastic bottles, wrappers and other garbage scattered around. I considered cleaning it alone, but the waste was too much for one person to manage safely and properly. I spoke with local residents, and they have assured me that they will help organise volunteers for a larger cleanup drive soon. During the journey, I also visited a peaceful local temple, where a Baba invited me for lunch and encouraged me to recite passages from the Ramcharitmanas. What began as a cancelled cleanup drive became an unexpected journey through nature, community and local culture. This is not the end of the Bandla cleanup story.
