The story of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme (Kaptagat-ICP) began with a tree seedling on June 27, 2017. Today, it is a pioneering, community-led model for conservation that is improving livelihoods, grounded in the principle that when communities benefit directly and sustainably from the forest, they become the most committed stewards. The transformative programme leverages high-impact innovations designed to make conservation economically rewarding, thereby reducing pressure on forest resources. It is anchored on four strategic pillars: Pesa Mfukoni, Kawi Safi Nyumbani, Maji Nyumbani, and Mazingira Safi.
