A hillside Goan home that breathes with nature
Garima and Anindya Roy, designers and founders of Freehand Studio, found a hillside plot in Olaulim, North Goa, surrounded by trees and overlooking the backwaters. They knew right away it was where they wanted to live and work. What they built is both a home and studio, shaped by the land and local materials. The house, made from laterite stone, stays naturally cool without air-conditioning and opens into courtyards and gardens. Just a few steps away, the studio’s ground floor serves as a workshop where Anindya prototypes furniture and repairs bicycles, while the family explores hands-on ideas together. Watch the full video to explore their home, studio, and the way they’ve built life around design.
