How to Install Shower Accent Tile Wall Border Trim

In this video we show you how to install an accent tile border on your bathroom shower walls as part of your remodeling and tile installation efforts. Tile border trim in bathroom shower We also show you how to deal with mosaic accent tiles with different thickness thinner than the wall tiles. If you have accent tile different thickness than the wall tiles, you make your thin sheets of mosaic accent tiles as thick as the wall tiles by back buttering thin set mortar on the back of the mesh tile sheets. that makes the thinner accent tile now almost as thick as the shower wall tiles. tile border in bathroom Then you let the accent border tiles dry overnight until the sheet of accent tiles is now rigid like a single wall tile. Then continue with the tile border installation onto the bathroom shower walls, with thick mortar, pressing the sheet of accent tiles down with a wood block until the accent tile border matches the thickness of the shower wall tiles. No more problem of accent tile different thickness than the wall tiles. We'll also show you how to tile the accent tile border in the bathroom that that goes all the way around the shower walls. The accent tile wall really adds a touch of class to your bathroom remodel DIY project. Don't forget with your tile border installation, if you are installing river rock or stone tiles or marble tiles, as part of your accent tile wall, you have to seal your tile border first before you can add the sanded grout, otherwise the rocks can soak up the grout color. This is true with any natural stone accent border tiles in the shower. use tile stone sealer to seal any stone tile walls. You'll see the river rock tile installation here in this bathroom shower project needed to be sealed. Your accent tile border trim pieces should not be grouted in the corners, use sanded siliconized color matching caulk instead. Congratulations you are now ready to install accent tiles in shower walls. In the end you'll be left with beautiful mosaic tiles on your shower walls.
