CDL Class A w/Air Pre-Trip Inspection for a Truck/Trailer (Pintle Hitch)

A full procedural video of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with Air Brakes Pre-Trip inspection for a Truck/Trailer (Pintle Hitch). This video demonstrates the procedures using a bucket truck, but would be good for any truck and trailer combination that has a pintle hitch. Both the truck and trailer uses air brakes. The difference between a tractor/trailer and a truck/trailer pre-trip inspection is the coupling system. A tractor/trailer uses a fifth wheel; all other coupling options are for a truck/trailer. This truck/trailer demonstration covers the pintle hitch coupling. The Class A Pre-Trip Inspection Skills Test is broken up into five forms. 1. Form A: the front of the vehicle, the engine compartment, steering system, and the front axle. 2. Form B: the driver’s side door and fuel area, underneath the vehicle, and rear axles. 3. Form C: the trailer and the trailer axles. 4. Truck and Trailer Coupling System. 5. Engine Start: In cab items, gauges and indicators, and air brake check. All Class A CDL applicants MUST complete both the Coupling System and the Engine Start forms. In addition to those two forms, you will complete one or all of the three remaining forms (A B C). Whether you must complete one or all forms (referred to as a Full Form), your name will be input into a random form generator. The generator will decide what form you must complete. Neither you nor the test administrator has any input as to what additional form(s) you must successfully complete, so it is wise to learn full form! During your Pre-Trip Inspection, you must be able to correctly tell and demonstrate to the tester what you are checking each part for and how to check it. This detailed "full form" training video should help you with understanding the steps and procedures required for passing your Pre-Trip inspection. The video is an excellent tool for preparing for the Class A Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) Behind-the-Wheel Range exercises.
