Krag-Jørgensen Danois m1889/10 : Tir & Histoire #24
#krag-jorgensen #history 📜The Gevaer m1889/10 rifle, more commonly known as "karg-Jørgensen", is the rifle adopted by Denmark in 1889n chambered in 8x58r. The Danish 1889, US 1892 and Norwegian 1894 rifles are commonly called "Krag-Jørgensen". But the appellation will arrive only later, with the US version. Moreover only the system of capsule, or rather half-capsule, is at the origin of the 2 Norwegians. The rest of the rifle is well manufactured according to the Danish specifications. The period 1880 to 1890 is a period of transition in the armament, at the world level. We finish on the black powder rifles and tubular magazine, to discover the systems of magazines with vertical feeding with the powder without smoke. The Norwegians will offer a still different system: a horizontal feeding, in a half-capsule. The Gevaer m1889 will be used in Denmark until the second world war, and will be still used by the German occupant. This rifle is just superb... Very good quality of manufacture, excellent with the use, atypical system... Not uninteresting and which would ask to be compared with other contemporary systems... In short it is a superb piece of collection! 📌INDISPENSABLE LINK FOR THE DANISH KRAG VERSIONS: https://surplused.com/index.php/2014/... 📕SOURCES: Development of the Krag Jorgensen Rifle for the US Military: A Technical Assessment - Kenneth Dorsett https://modernfirearms.net/en/militar... https://svartkrutt.net/articles/vis.p...
