Jolie got sick, and what seemed like a common symptom turned into days of anguish, trips to the pediatrician, and the urgent need for tests at the hospital here in Japan. Seeing a child get sick far from Brazil, having to deal with the language barrier and understand how the healthcare system and medical emergencies work in Japan, is the biggest nightmare for any immigrant mother. I decided to turn on the camera amidst this vulnerability so that our story can serve as a warning and guide for other Brazilians living in Japan with children.
