Number 1: Piling Rig that has the possibility to be converted to CFA Technology. Or A piling that is CFA Dedicated, such as Fundex, PVE, Soilmec SF Series, etc… Number 2: Continuous Flight Auger Kit. There are several items here that comprise the CFA Kit, such as Hydraulic Mast Foot, Extension shaft, swivel, lower gates and many others that we will cover in a different video – What is a CFA Kit composed of? Number 3: CFA Concrete Pump. The pumps can be crawler mounted or trailer type. The CFA Pump is recommended to have a delivery of at least 65 cubic meters per hour and a pressure of at least 40 bars. Obviously, the greater the depth and diameter, bigger the pump. If the pump is not sufficient, you will still be able to concrete your pile but a lot slower, which can lead to difficulties in inserting your cage reinforcement due to concrete losing fluidity. There are many things that need to be said about pumps, therefore we will have a separate episode regarding this – CFA Concrete Pumps. Number 4: Excavator and/or crane – It all depends on the size of CFA Piles you will be performing. Number 5: Concrete Hoses and rigid pipes – depending on the country you are in, the sizes are 4 and 5 inch. The hoses need to be sufficiently long to connect the concrete pump with the rig. Number 6: Tools. Here you need to consider Augers, Teeth (for Clay or Bullet Type), Plugs (sacrificial or reusable). Number 7: I have left some items for the end, as some contractors consider this optional. Here we can include: CFA Instrumentation, Auger Cleaner and Cage Vibrators. If these auxiliary equipment is used or not, it’s strictly dependent on the size of the job you must perform. For example, please see one of our other videos, called “With or without cage vibrators?”. Disclaimer: We are not endorsing any specific brand or try to promote, advertise or market.
