Montée des eaux : Ces villes et Pays qui pourraient disparaitre.
Faced with climate change and rising sea levels, many cities and countries are threatened. This is, for example, the case of the largest city in the United States, New York, which has suffered repeated assaults from hurricanes and major flooding. To deal with these natural risks, the city is setting up a gigantic anti-submersion wall just across the East River, on the island of Manhattan. This is also the case of Venice, regularly flooded because of the phenomenon of high tides known as Acqua Alta and which increases with the disruption of the climate... To protect itself, the city of Venice sets up since 2003 a protection system in the form of mobile dikes called the Moïse project. Even more catastrophic, in Japan, the country experiences devastating tsunamis like the one in 2011. Since the disaster, the archipelago has set up the construction of anti-tsunami walls even larger and more resistant than the previous ones, of a height between between 15 and 20 meters in places. The city of Tokyo has also built a gigantic underground system of reservoirs and tunnels, dubbed G-Cans, to absorb its floods. Finally, we will talk about the Netherlands, which has been facing the problem of rising waters for a long time. With its Delta project, the largest defensive structure against rising waters in the world, the country is showing that it is possible to effectively protect against this risk. Happy video everyone!
