Norway Coasts on the Havila: Tromso

The Havila Ferry is a Norwegian coastal voyage that shows you some of Norway’s most beautiful landscapes in 12 days. In this video, day 5 of the Havila, we stop at Tromso, the largest city in Northern Norway. Surrounded my mountains and fjords, Tromso is located 217 miles above the Arctic Circle and is considered one of the best places to see the Northern Lights. As the self-proclaimed gateway to the Arctic, Tromso is also home to one of my favorite museums, the Polar Museum. Hurtigruten is the most famous passenger ferry service in Norway, but they’re not the only one. Havila entered the coastal scene in 2021 with four identical ships that offer a more eco-friendly way to see Norway. I was on board the Pollux, but the Havila ships are identical, so it won’t matter if you’re on a different ship. I took the Havila ferry as a solo traveler, and was surprised by how many other solo travelers were also on board! The 12-day coastal voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes makes 34 port stops, which range from large cities to tiny Arctic villages, with plenty of excursions along the way. I went on the Havila Ferry at the end of November, and sailed into polar night on our voyage. This was day 5, and I think it's the first day of Polar Night. Taking the Havila ferry in the winter brings less daylight, but more opportunities to see the Northern Lights, which is what I was after. #travel #norway #havila #winter #visitnorway #tromso
