Around 10% of Australians are gluten intolerant and one in 70 suffers from the autoimmune condition, Coeliac disease. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley but not in oats. But oats can be contaminated by gluten if processed using the same equipment. Now a range of uncontaminated oat-based food has been created, although legally it can't be labelled gluten free.
