RAISE THEIR VOICES

Raise Their Voices is a short film telling the story of losing my brother Jack to suicide in 2018, the collapse and rebuilding of our family, and the path of grief we have walked since. It shares how healing was found through holistic practices, the creation of a retreat centre built in Jack’s honour, and the connections made with friends across the world who have also lost loved ones to suicide. The day Jack passed I found myself on the floor with my head over the toilet, throwing up from a pain so intense it felt like it could take my last breath. In that moment I realised the sheer weight of human suffering and how unbearable grief can be, yet something even greater rose within me. I knew no human should have to face both the taking of their own life and the devastation left for those who remain. From that day forward my hope became stronger than my pain. If it was not for finding the path of healing, discovering faith and working tirelessly on myself, I do not know where grief would have taken me. Choosing healing has given me everything. It has led me back home to myself, given me the gift of my little girl, and equipped me to face life’s challenges with strength I never knew I had. Jack’s final gift to me was the gift of healing. Through this I have accomplished more in a life dedicated to inner work than I ever could have in a life of unconscious suffering. This mini film is a tribute to my beautiful brother and a message of hope for anyone navigating similar loss, a reminder that even in the deepest pain there can be connection, meaning and light.
