Obsolete outboard coil hack: Will this cheap swap actually work?

Thanks to ‪@BoatBusters‬ for giving me the motivation to get another outboard motor up and running. This video goes over a trick used to replace older outboard coils that are no longer made. Get that old engine up and running again in no time.
