Janet Jackson - Love Will Never Do (Without You) - January 1989 Recording (1988 Backing/Instrum...)

After encountering issues with A&M Records during 1988 with Flyte Tyme Productions' $1 million fee to produce the followup to 1986's Control and recording a few demos with other outside producers (see Work demo), in November 1988, Jackson returned to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon arrival, the threesome of Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam Harris, and Terry Lewis began recording basic instrumentation and backing vocals for the 3 tracks Miss You Much, Escapade, and Love Will Never Do into December 1988. Upon return to Minneapolis in January 1989, the lead vocals on these 3 tracks were then recorded that month and full album production also beginning, concluding in May 1989 with Black Cat. It was the last album produced at the original Flyte Tyme location, in Minneapolis, MN (which relocated to upscale Edina suburb in September 1989) and California in 2003. I used this photo, because Prince was originally meant to be part of the duet in late 1988. It was ultimately recorded without him in January of 1989. All the backing vocals and the instrumentation for this were recorded in December 1988. The LP version was produced during the spring of 1989, with added changes before being mastered.
