Cao Thuong Town is located in the east of Tan Yen District, with the following geographical location: The East borders Hop Duc Commune The West borders Cao Xa Commune The South borders Lien Chung and Viet Lap Commune The North borders Lien Son and Phuc Hoa Communes. Cao Thuong Town has an area of ​​9.44 km², the population in 2018 was 13,323 people[3], the population density reached 1,411 people/km². Before 1945, Cao Thuong was a commune of Muc Son commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province. After the August Revolution, Cao Thuong commune merged with Dam Phong, Muc Son and Duong Son communes to form Cuong Lap commune. At the end of 1955, Cuong Lap commune was divided into two communes, Cuong Lap and Lien Son. In 1971, Cuong Lap commune changed its name to Cao Thuong commune. On February 18, 1997, the Government issued Decree 14/CP[1]. Accordingly, Cao Thuong town was established on the basis of 238.96 hectares of natural area and 3,810 people of Cao Thuong commune; 28.3 hectares of natural area and 781 people of Cao Xa commune; 1.88 hectares of natural area and 72 people of Lien Son commune. After establishment, Cao Thuong town had 269.14 hectares of natural area and 4,663 people. Cao Thuong commune had 627.79 hectares of natural area and 5,909 people. By 2018, Cao Thuong town had an area of ​​2.58 km², a population of 6,756 people, a population density of 2,619 people/km², including 3 streets: Hoang Hoa Tham, Pho Moi, Ngo Xa and 10 areas: Ngo, Dong Moi, Cho, Dong, Vuon Dinh, Dinh Gia, Thiem, Nguon, Dau, Doi Do. Cao Thuong commune had an area of ​​6.86 km², a population of 6,567 people, a population density of 957 people/km², including 13 villages: Hoa Son, Cham, Trong Thuong, Dinh, Bau, Bui, Hop Tien, Tan Lap, Tan Tien, Chua, Trong Ha, Ngoai Ha, Pho Bui. On November 21, 2019, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 813/NQ-UBTVQH14 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Bac Giang province (the resolution takes effect from January 1, 2020)[3].
