Jos was drugsverslaafd | RD

In this second episode, Louis Seesing meets 63-year-old Jos from Eindhoven. Jos came into contact with crime at a young age. He broke into places and stole car radios to resell. When Jos found a steady job as a road worker, things went relatively well for him for years. Jos had friends who threw themselves into the nightlife without hesitation after a long day of work, while he himself was completely exhausted. He was 38 when he used coke for the first time and was immediately hooked. "I was over the moon." Before he realized it, he was addicted to drugs. "I wanted to quit, but a little voice on my shoulder kept saying: ‘coke, coke’." The wife of an addicted friend often talked to him about Jesus. Jos wanted nothing to do with that. Until, during community service, he ran into that same friend who had since come to faith. "It was as if I was looking into Jesus' eyes; I saw a new man." Jos attends a church service for the first time. During the service, prayers are said for him. "Nothing happened at that moment, but the next morning I woke up and the little voice on my shoulders had disappeared." "From that moment on, I never touched drugs again." Jos has now been clean for 16 years, works for Gevangenenzorg Nederland, and gives guest lectures on drugs and alcohol for Stichting Voorkom.
