You don't need an airbrush to color match a doll

Sick Lomi coming at you this morning with some thoughts and a hobby PSA: You don't really need an airbrush. Even super heavy color matches that require a full paint job for your doll's head don't require an airbrush to get good results. Today I'll show you how I use a paintbrush to color match a doll head, and explain some of the hazards of color matching... such as the way a lack of translucency can make colors look off in photos while they look great in person, and how sealant choice matters and can radically change the color of your paint job. I'll be re-dyeing the pieces of this doll that didn't take the color well in the coming weeks. Most of his body is the rich, deep brown of the fingertips, but marbling in the resin and some missed spots of sealant meant not all the pieces took color super evenly, but that's an issue I've talked about before so I won't get into it here. I think the skin texture the head gained from my messed up old can of Purity Seal is really nice and I'm looking forward to doing his faceup. Vallejo's matte varnish works well for dark resins, but I think I'd like a satin finish here.
