Amid the tragedy in Venezuela, even though hope is dwindling, stories are emerging that touch the hearts of people around the world. Such is the case of Edy Áñez, a university professor who survived the double earthquake thanks to a distress call. Trapped in his living room on June 24th, he recalls seeing a flock of birds cross the sky. He grabbed a pen and paper and wrote down his location. He threw the message, wrapped in a ball, and moments later the building collapsed. Against all odds, he escaped alive.
