According to Hindu mythology, the great sage Maharishi Ved Vyasa, who composed the Mahabharata, meditated here. The Beas River is said to derive its name from Vyasa, making this place an important spiritual destination. Why Are Gaddi Shepherds Found Here? The lush alpine meadows around Beas Kund provide excellent grazing grounds during the summer months. Gaddi shepherds move their livestock from lower valleys to these high-altitude pastures in search of fresh grass and water.
