Scratch Build #4: Ballasted Deck Overpass

As part of the new swing gate I needed a bridge- an overpass. I decided to model the Route 98 overpass in Fairview, PA where the CSX tracks pass over Pennsylvania Rt 98. I looked at commercial offerings but none looked quite right. So I went the scratch building path, and the results are shown here. This video covers both the bridge itself as well as the abutments, which are also scratch built. I followed the prototype as much as possible, based on photos and some measurements of the actual abutments. I couldn't measure the bridge itself, so it is a "best guess" approximation. The bridge is a ballasted deck, so it wasn't too difficult to build. I am not a bridge expert, and hope I got it mostly correct. Overall I feel it captures the essence of the prototype. It has a unique look, and several local railfans, when showed photos, replied with "That is the CSX bridge in Fairview!" Mission accomplished. Thank you for watching.
