Druids are a very versatile class in Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition, and that’s largely due to their ability to wild shape into various creatures at any given time, typically as an action. Druids are also well-versed in spellcasting, healing, dealing damage, and otherwise controlling the battlefield with their powerful magic. So in this video, we’ll be going over some of the best magic items you might consider taking as a druid. But before we go into the list, we need to first establish what criteria we’re looking for in terms of magic items. See, unlike other classes, there is a bit of a discrepancy when it comes to how magic items work for druids that are wild shaped. The general rule for Wild Shape states that “Your equipment doesn’t change size or shape to match the new form, and any equipment that the new form can’t wear must either fall to the ground or merge with it.” However, the rules for magic items on page 140 of the Dungeon Master’s Guide specifies that “In most cases, a magic item that’s meant to be worn can fit a creature regardless of size or build.” This might create a bit of back and forth between you and your DM about what is and isn’t okay to use in Wild Shape, so that’s just something to keep in mind. But for the purposes of this list in particular, we’ll be going with the assumption that you can use them even while in wild shape form. With that out of the way, let’s get started...
