പൂരം മലയാളികൾക്ക് പലതുമാണ്. ഉത്തര മലബാറിൽ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ചന്ദ്രഗിരി പുഴയ്ക്കും വളപട്ടണം പുഴയ്ക്കും ഇടയിലുള്ള ഗ്രാമ മുറ്റങ്ങളിൽ, സന്ധ്യയ്ക് പൂത്തു നിൽക്കുന്ന നിലവിളക്കിന്റെ ദൃശ്യ ഭംഗിയിൽ മതിമറന്ന് തൊഴുത് നിൽക്കുമ്പോഴും ഉള്ളിൽ ചെറിയൊരു വിരഹത്തോടെ " വരും കൊല്ലം നേരത്തേ കാലത്തേ വരണേ കാമാ" എന്ന് ഉറക്കെ ചൊല്ലി കാമദേവനെ യാത്രയാക്കി പൂരനാളിന്റ പൂർണ്ണതയിൽ നിൽക്കുന്ന ഓർമ്മകളാണ് ഓരോ പൂരവും സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നത്. മീന മാസത്തിലെ കാർത്തിക നാൾ മുതൽ തുടങ്ങുന്ന ചടങ്ങുകൾ പൂരം നാളിൽ പര്യവസാനിക്കുന്നു. കാമദേവനെ പുനരുജ്ജീവിപ്പിക്കുക എന്ന സങ്കൽപ്പത്തോടെ നടത്തി വരുന്ന പൂരം വടക്കൻ മലബാറിൽ തന്നെ പല പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും പലതരത്തിലും ആഘോഷിച്ച് വരുന്നു. പുറ്റ് മണ്ണിൽ രൂപമെടുക്കുന്ന കാമദേവൻമാരെ 7 ദിവസം ജലപുഷ്പാദികളാൽ പ്രീതി പ്പെടുത്തി പൂരനാളിൽ അടയും പായസവും നിവേദിച്ച് സന്ധ്യാവിളക്കിന്റെയും മണിനാദത്തിന്റെയും അകമ്പടിയോടെ പ്ലാവിൻ ചുവട്ടിൽ യാത്രയയക്കുന്നു... വേനലവധിയുടെ മുന്നോടിയായി എത്തുന്ന പൂരത്തിന് അവധിക്കാല ഗൃഹാതുരത്വത്തിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സ്ഥാനമുണ്ട്.. നന്മകൾ നിറഞ്ഞ മറ്റൊരു പൂര ദിനത്തിനായി പ്രതീക്ഷകളോടെ നമുക്ക് കാത്തിരിക്കാം... POORAM Celebration | Poorada- Poorakanji | "Kerala Traditional Celebration & LifeStyle "Pooram" is a traditional festival in North Malabar side of kerala.People believe Lord kamadeva will visit our Houses during pooram days...we make kamadeva's idol using mud and give flowers and water for 7 days to make him happy ...on the final pooram day we prepare payasam and Ada then send him back happily by requesting to visit again next year... Pooram days will be prior to summer vacation.So it will always give nostalgic feel whenever we near to summer holidays...let us hope for those days back again in the next year.... I am Namitha. I born and bought up in a small village in Kerala. I am a food lover like my father. I also love to do farming , Crafting and I get the base knowledge from my father. I used to stay in city also, but where ever I go, always try to maintain tradition and passion as much I can. I always try to make things different , so I started gardening, ornament making etc. Whenever came to hometown I spend most of the time in our families "Tharavadu" where I get several knowledge's and ancient utilities and many more. simply sitting on verandah while raining will give some special nostalgic feeling. Food is always a precious thing which makes us happy throughout the day. Rasakkoottu is started with my interest in cooking. Through my videos, my intention is to recreate old lifestyle and cooking techniques and visualize those memories to the new generation when ever I am at my home town. I also would like to picturize current food cooking styles in possible traditional way when ever I stay in city. I always like to explore more on traditional cooking within and outside Kerala too. I personally like to prepare the foods by my self and enjoy to serve it to family.
